I live in the most obese city in the United States. My parents are both diabetics and my father is insulin dependent. When my doctor said that my fasting blood glucose, Hemoglobin A1c and fasting insulin were high, it was a real wake up call.
I read Delay, Don’t Deny by Gin Stephens and started my first fast that evening. I joined Gin’s groups and started IF, I followed a 20:4-22:2 schedule and lost 20 pounds and gained my life back! In 10 short months, I reversed all of my prediabetic numbers and even reversed my NAFLD.
I lost 20 pounds in 15 months. But, I hit a weight plateau for 7 months. It was time to “trust the process”. I had to tweak ❤️
I received an advanced copy of Fast. Feast. Repeat. and devoured it. It is an awesome book. I’ve read every fasting book on the market, listen to every podcast on Apple podcast about fasting, watch credible YouTube videos and NOT one thing I’ve ever come across is as thorough as FFR. It re-lit a fire 🔥 in me after 15 months of fasting.
I had attempted 4:3 at 6 and 10 months into my journey. It never felt right.
After reading FFR, I decided to do one longer fast a week. I chose Monday’s because eventually my goal was to complete 2 down days a week: Monday and Thursdays. But, I would start with baby steps. Monday’s first.
Gin gave me the opportunity to create a post dedicated to that on a weekly basis. The group’s goal was to use thread to make longer fasts seem a little less intimidating and daunting in a safe and supportive environment. I felt so blessed to have so many seasoned ADFers contribute so willing to the post! Some have been following these patterns for months, if not years.
